Safari at Londolozi – Our guests view a rare leopard sighting

Long time clients of ours, Miles and Brian from NSW, were stunned by the unique experience they received from the team and game at Londolozi Game Reserve.

On a father and son trip to Africa for the first time, this pair of discerning travellers were really looking forward to their stay at Londolozi. They weren’t disappointed with lots of great big cat sightings including leopard and lion.

Friendly staff, first class safari guiding and excellent dining were the first things to be discussed on a trip follow up call to find out how their trip went. Read their comments below.

Miles, 25 Uni Student ” Founders Camp is great, the team and guides are amazing. I learnt so much in the 5 days i was there. The chalet’s are excellent with lots of space but it is the the location of the lodge that for me stood out – under the trees along the banks of the Sand River ! Their relationship with the leopards on and around the property is just incredible. “

Brian, Former Pilot 60 ” Londolozi is excellent. The concept, the team, the staff, the food – everything was top notch. The safari experience itself was something else. Through many many years of hard work by founders John Varty and the Londolozi team, the leopard remain wild but unperturbed by your presence allowing up close and personal viewing of these amazing animals”

We received this great Facebook message to our Above and Beyond Holidays Facebook page from Miles just after arriving back at the lodge after this rare sighting

” we saw the rarest leopard moment on camera any of the trackers have ever seen ! There was a big male leopard who climbed a 80ft tree along the river and ate all three of these gigantic Fish eagles babies. We watched it devour them for an hour and then watched him scale down jumping from tree to tree. The trackers were amazed – apparently the first documented viewing of this kind on the reserve ! I’m uploading the footage to youtube ! “

Leopard are pretty much the reason you need to visit the Sabi Sand. You will enjoy other great sightings of elephant, lion and rhino but it is the consistent long term approach of the private reserves towards conservation and sustainable tourism that has led to a haven for leopard who are well and truly habituated to the site of safari vehicle.

If you want an up close and personal leopard viewing experience Londolozi in the Sabi Sand is the place to go. Londolozi know their leopard’s – they know their life, their history and their stories.
